Batesville, Arkansas

Dating back to when Batesville was first established by the Trimble’s and Lafferty’s in 1810, there are stories that include the Osage and Cherokee Indian Tribes, the first store being established in 1812, to the establishment of Batesville, named after Judge James Woodson Bates, the first delegate to Congress from the Arkansas Territory, in 1824.

Today, Batesville boasts some of the best genealogical records in all of Arkansas. Visitors from all over the county come to research family members and records that date back to when Batesville was first founded. You can also visit the oldest downtown in Arkansas, some of the oldest existing homes in Arkansas, and Arkansas first urban farmstead!
